So, how do you remove this concern altogether? Simple. Get a wardrobe that features the exact same style—the same kinds of tops, pants, and shoes. No matter the day, no matter the occasion, you’ll always have a straightforward answer to the inconvenient questions above. And this is just one of the benefits of wearing the same outfit every day.

It’s a whole lifestyle
Consider that many successful people have done this, or something similar, in the past. We became familiar with Steve Jobs wearing his signature turtleneck, for instance. Mark Zuckerberg also has a pretty well-defined style wearing comfortable t-shirts almost all the time. And there’s nothing wrong with that. On the contrary—not worrying about what you wear allows you to focus on far more important stuff.
Dress for the job you want. Dress for the lifestyle you crave for. In short, dress for yourself. Whatever makes you comfortable, whatever you need. Decluttering your wardrobe, much in Marie Kondo’s style, will help your daily life, true enough. But putting the same kind of clothes in there, the ones that fit your style and your mood, will also alleviate a lot of the stress involved in figuring out how to dress on any given day.
Shopping will also be easier. You’ll no longer need to wander around store after store trying to find variety. You also won’t have to try on each different outfit to see if it fits or if it suits you. Once you find the one style you want, you can bet the rest of your close will fit if they come from the same store and feature the exact same product. If you want to get political, there are plenty of good, social reasons to wear the same thing every day too. You see, much of our styles are defined by society’s standards, rather than our own. School uniforms, dress-code for jobs, general business attires—all these social conventions reinforce arbitrary and often detrimental social roles and divides, such as gender and racial biases, as well as classist hierarchies. By keeping it simple (and by making it a point to do so), you can help bridge some of these pernicious differences.
Then there’s the ethical and environmental side. Sticking with a single style and a limited wardrobe for a while, and donating clothes you no longer use, helps us avoid the harms of fast fashion. We waste less, while effectively preventing companies that abuse and exploit workers to produce massive amounts of unnecessary seasonal clothing.

No pressure
It’s not about wearing the same exact piece every day, but the same overall style, that brings both comfort and expression. You’ll get to say who you are, or at least what preferences and taste you have for a given period. If your tastes change over time, you can donate your current clothes and change style gradually.
So, you don’t really have to commit to a single style for the rest of your life—unless you really know yourself. But you also don’t really have to commit to a single style completely at a time either. This strategy, and its benefits, works even if you apply a moderate version of it: make most of your wardrobe uniform, and keep a few outfits varied for special occasions. If you know exactly which occasions call for them, then you’ll not waste time thinking about it anyway. Maybe you do need a suit for work. And you want to have a nice pair of pants and a fancy shirt for a dinner or a hot date. That’s completely in line with this strategy too—but keep it simple.
All in all, there’s no harm in trying wearing the same thing every day at least for a little while, and there’s plenty of benefits. See how you feel. You can always go back to your varied wardrobe if it doesn’t work out for you. So, what have you got to lose?
