More than a week has gone by since Will Smith took the stage at the Oscars ceremony to slap Chris Rock for making jokes about her wife, Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Since then, a lot has happened. Not only an inquiry by the Academy is taking place, but also Will Smith resigned from his membership, productions involving the Prince of Bel-Air had been pulled out, and is still unclear if Rock will legally proceed.

That is why, after the altercation, Will Smith fears he will get canceled. A source told Us Weekly that he is struggling with the fact that his roles are being put aside.
“His biggest fear is that he’s in the process of being fully canceled, and there’s nothing he can really do about it except sit back, suck up his punishment like a man and try to atone however he can”, said the insider.

A day after the incident, Will Smith issued a formal apology not only to Rock but to the Academy and all of the other winners who didn’t get the chance to celebrate because the altercation got all the attention.
After his apology, the Academy announced it was launching an investigation, while Smith announce his resignation from his membership.
Chris Rock hasn’t addressed the altercation publicly and limited to mentioning it during a show in Boston even though he did inflict a form of violence. As for Jada, she releases a brief statement saying she was ready to move on.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, some of Smith’s projects at Netflix and Sony were being put on hold.
