For a long time, human beings have tried to decipher when and how the end of the world will come. Countless theories pretend to warn us, but none of them has been successful. If it is the 6th of June 2006 for being the ‘date of the devil’; if it is in March 2023, as time travelers say; and many more, but as in other fields, Artificial Intelligence (AI) came to do its thing and revealed more details about this event.
When Will the End of the World Happen According to AI
A user shared on social networks the answer given by ‘ChatGPT’ about when will be the end of the world. According to this Artificial Intelligence tool, this would happen in about 5 million years when the Sun dies, runs out of hydrogen supply, and starts converting helium into heavier elements in its core, becoming a red giant.
Trying it ourselves gave us something more specific, but less exciting. “As an artificial intelligence, I cannot predict the future nor do I know about events that may occur after my knowledge cutoff date in September 2021. Until that date, there is no scientific evidence or certainty about when or if the end of the world will occur.”
The idea of the “end of the world is often associated with various apocalyptic theories, religious prophecies, or doomsday scenarios, but it is important to remember that most of these claims lack solid scientific foundation,” noted ChatGPT.
What the End of the World Will Look Like According to AI
ChatGPT also revealed details of what the end of the world would look like, should it occur: “It is believed that during this red giant phase, the Earth will be completely engulfed and destroyed. However, this will not happen immediately.”
This tool highlights that the planet will be threatened by the consequences of the Sun’s evolution, where there would be asteroid collisions, comets, natural phenomena, and human-generated catastrophes.
Bard’s Predictions About the End of the World
Bard, the AI tool developed by Google, also has its take on what the end of the world might look like. According to the AI, “there is no definitive answer to this question, as there are many different theories about how the world could end. Some of the most common theories include a cataclysmic event such as a supernova, an asteroid impact, or a pandemic that could end human civilization.”
“Climate change could make the Earth uninhabitable, causing the extinction of humanity. A nuclear war could destroy the planet,” the technology responded. However, what most caught users’ attention is when Bard indicates that the one responsible for the end of the world would be artificial intelligence (very Mission Impossible 7 of it). “An advanced artificial intelligence could decide that humanity is a threat and take steps to eliminate us.”
Could it be that the AI’s version of the end of the world is the good one?
