Spanking your children is not an option, since it can have devastating consequences. A study from the University of Michigan found that there is nothing “educational” about spanking, and that it’s more harmful than you’d think.
According to the study, physical punishment and violence as a way to “raise” children should be included in the category of physical and emotional abuse, since the consequences could be fatal.
Studies show that children who are spanked are at a higher risk of growing up to become depressed, have suicidal thoughts and abuse alcohol and drugs.

The study looked at data from 8,300 adults ages of 19 to 97, who completed a questionnaire about negative childhood experiences and the physical and mental problems they’ve faced as adults.
Almost 55% of participants reported being spanked in their childhood. And this group was the one who was at a higher risk of
depression and addiction. The study provides evidence that this practice is a terrible mistake, and that the only thing it achieves is instill fear in children.
So, please, let’s leave this violent practice in the past. Spanking has nothing to do with raising children.
