Avian flu has been detected in some birds found in parks and green spaces in New York City. The report was released by CBS. At this moment, health officials are concerned about the disease, warning New Yorkers to keep their distance from wildlife.
Experts say bird flu has been found in several geese, a peregrine falcon, a red-tailed hawk and a chicken at Marcus Garvey Park in Manhattan. So far, only two humans have been infected with H5N1, or bird flu in the United States since 2022, including a case that was reported earlier this month in Texas.

The patient in Texas had been in close contact with cows that, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, were presumably infected with H5N. The patient infected in 2022 was a poultry worker in Colorado.
You’re not going to walk past a sick goose and get bird flu. It doesn’t work like that. The precautions everyone should take would be to simply limit contact with wildlife. You shouldn’t run up to a Canada goose and try to catch it,” was the CDC’s message. Health officials say both recent human cases were mild. There is no indication that bird flu is spreading between people currently.
New York also suffered an earthquake recently
New Images of the earthquake
New images have been released of the magnitude 4.8 earthquake that struck New York on Friday. According to official reports, the epicenter was located in the neighboring state of New Jersey, but thousands of people in the Big Apple felt the phenomenon. Something very unusual for that city.

In fact, the first impression that can be clearly perceived in the videos circulating on social networks is one of absolute surprise. For example, in the UN Security Council, no one was sure if it was really an earthquake and had to be evacuated.

This also happened on several live TV shows. Instead of evacuating, drivers stared at each other, not knowing what to do. Most of them even took the episode as funny and kept talking.
Many people claim that it is the worst earthquake they have felt in that famous city and, statistically, it is the most serious in 140 years. In many countries in Latin America or Asia, 4.8 is not a large magnitude, but in New York it had actually been centuries since a movement like this was known. This is how the moment was experienced from the Statue of Liberty.

The largest earthquake in New York took place on September 5, 1944 and had a magnitude of 5.9. The epicenter of that quake was located near the border between New York and Canada, causing extensive damage in cities such as Massena and Cornwall. Although it seems hard to believe, today’s 4.8 is among the worst in history in terms of magnitude.
