Early this morning, Matt Leblanc posted a very touching post addressing Matthew Perry’s sad death. He was the first of the main cast to speak about the matter publicly. A few hours later, Courteney Cox followed suit with a hilarious yet moving post on Instagram.
Courteney Cox played Monica Geller on the iconic Friends sitcom, Matthew Perry’s character’s love interest, one of the best couples in modern television, if you ask us. As such, Courteney and Matthew became very close friends outside the filming set. It was reported that Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston were struggling the most with Perry’s passing.
Courteney Cox honored Matthew Perry with a touching yet funny post, just as he would’ve liked it. The actress shared one of the most iconic scenes from the series. In the message she wrote: “I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day.”
She then addressed her followers, explaining their beautiful relationship and why she decided to post that clip from the series: “When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now, here’s one of my favorites.”
The clip Courteney chose to honor Perry is the one where Monica and Chandler hook up (IN LONDON?!), thus starting their great love story: “To give a little backstory, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one-night fling in London. But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story.”
The clip shows the very long public reaction to the revelation of Monica and Chandler’s affair. Once it’s finished, Courteney jokes with Matthew and then says he told her to say that joke: “In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say. He often did things like that. He was funny, and he was kind. 🤍🕊️”
As we can see, their chemistry was amazing, and the reason they were able to give us the most wholesome couple on TV is because of their great friendship and trust! We can feel and understand Courteney’s and the rest of the cast’s pain.
