Donald Sutherland, the Canadian actor who played President Snow in the iconic ‘Hunger Games‘ saga, has died at the age of 88.
His son, actor Kiefer Sutherland, announced the news through social media.

“With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away. I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived,” said Kiefer Sutherland.
The Hollywood actor, also known for his successful participation in ‘Animal House,’ was an icon as an actor in the film industry. He was an important figure since the 70s who never stopped working since then.
In addition to being long considered one of the best actors who were never nominated for an Oscar despite having appeared in several films that won the most important ones.
Originally from New Brunswick, Canada, Sutherland began his career as a radio news reporter. In 1957, he moved to London to study at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

Donald Sutherland made his Hollywood debut with a small role in the 1967 World War II drama The Dirty Dozen, and began his fame as the lead in Robert Altman’s M.A.S.H. as Hawkeye Pierce.
In 2017 he received an honorary Oscar for his career achievements. He also has an Emmy and two Golden Globes.
