The Star Wars saga is one of the most successful and profitable in cinema history. The Force Awakens, released in 2015 and directed by director J.J. Abrams, marked the arrival of Adam Driver to the franchise in the role of Kylo Ren, one of the most important characters in history. Despite receiving praise from critics, the actor revealed that several projects related to the saga are currently being carried out, but he is not participating in any of them. This is due to the turn his character has taken, as he detailed on the Smartless podcast.
“They are doing things, but not with me. “I’m not there anymore,” said the actor when asked about the projects currently being carried out. Regarding his characters, he also explained that, in his opinion, the plot ended in The Rise of Skywalker.
Turn Change
In the same vein, Adam Driver provided further details about his character’s first glimpse of him in the trilogy and his redemption at the end of the story.
“His (Abrams) idea was for (Kylo’s journey) to be the opposite journey of Vader’s, where Vader starts as the most self-assured and the most committed to the dark side. And then in the last movie, he’s the most vulnerable and weakest. He wanted to start with the opposite. This character was the most confused and vulnerable, and by the end of the three films, he would be the most committed to the dark side. I tried to keep that trajectory in mind, regardless of whether that wasn’t the journey in the end because it changed during filming. But even so, I was still focused on that,’” he explained.
Contrary to Adam Driver, his co-star Daisy Ridley is fully linked to the franchise in the future, soon heading a new film starring Rey.
