Britney Spears could have been reunited with Ryan Gosling, and not just in terms of work; however, the destiny was already written… Although almost no one knew it, the singer auditioned to star in The Notebook, a role that Rachel McAdams got in the end.
Recently, Matthew Barry, director of this romantic and popular film that won the hearts of many, shared a video of the celebrity casting to play Allie. The most surprising thing is that the singer was one of the three young women considered to get the role, along with Ryan Gosling, who gave life to Noah.
Although Britney was best known for her music career, the iconic Princess of Pop had a great preparation for theater and acting as a child as she performed in several off-Broadway shows, and shared credits with Ryan Gosling himself at The Mickey Mouse Club. So, not that surprisingly, she managed to beat great artists such as Scarlett Johansson, Amy Adams Jessica Biel, and Claire Danes.

Britney Spears’ Audition for The Notebook
The 2:30-minute video features 21-year-old Britney performing one of the most touching scenes from this Hollywood classic released in 2004. The Princess of Pop begins to speak to Ryan Gosling, who is out of shot, when suddenly her eyes fill with tears, as it is just as she says goodbye to Noah to marry someone else.
“I’m not staying. I tried to call you to tell you I wasn’t staying, but no one answered the phone. Noah, you can’t marry two people. And I’m marrying Lon, so I should go, okay?” says Britney in the audition.
When we said that Britney could have been a part of Ryan Gosling’s life, we meant that had she stayed in the role, there was the possibility of bringing this fictional love to the real thing, as the actor and Rachel McAdams fell in love while filming.
