Since her Conservatorship was over, Britney Spears has been the target of many tabloids news interested to know what’s going on with her life now that she’s free. Despite the many scandals and conspiracy theories surrounding the ‘Princess of Pop,’ she’s managed to recover a bit of her life alongside her husband Sam Asghari. But it’s time for her to recover the narrative of her story.

Last year, Britney revealed that she’s been sought by many high-profile figures and shows to give a sincere interview about what she has experienced throughout her tragic life. Oprah was one of the first to offer the singer a space on her show to speak, but Britney wanted no intermediaries and wished to tell her story in her own words. Hence, she decided to expose it all in a book.

On July 11, the ‘Toxic’ singer shared the exciting news on social media; her memoir The Woman in Me will finally be released this year. “It’s coming, my story, on my terms… at last,” reads the announcement post.

The Woman in Me: Britney Spears’ Memoir

Months after she won the infamous conservatorship battle, Britney Spears announced her intentions of publishing a book recounting her harsh experiences. This naturally sparked a battle between publishers who wanted the scoop. According to Variety, Britney made a record-breaking deal of 15 million dollars!

The big publishing house is Gallery Books Senior, and they’ve also published a statement regarding the book. According to Jennifer Bergstrom, Vice President of Gallery Books Senior, “Britney’s compelling testimony in open court shook the world, changed laws, and showed her inspiring strength and bravery. I have no doubt her memoir will have a similar impact — and will be the publishing event of the year. We couldn’t be more proud to help her share her story at last.”

The Woman in Me will be released on October 24, and won’t only deal with the 13-year hell she experienced during her conservatorship, but Britney will also take us on the tragic journey through her rise to fame, her fall, and the traumas the media generated on her.

Now, being Britney, her story won’t be a purely dramatic account of events. According to the statement, with some candor and a great sense of humor, Britney aims to tell a “brave and astonishingly moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith, and hope.”

The Woman in Me “illuminates the enduring power of music and love—and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms, at last.” Yes, beyond the curiosity we may all have regarding the private life of one of the most iconic and controversial figures, the importance of this book lies in finally giving her the chance to control the narrative regarding her own life.
