Dua Lipa recently addressed how she feels about the backlash she has been receiving just for standing up for Palestine, and we couldn’t feel prouder.
Celebrities have a lot of power. No one can deny it. Millions of people watch their content daily and amidst the current genocide happening in Palestine, one single post can make the difference.
Of course, it is political, but why should we take away a public figure’s responsibility just because they are famous? That’s why the recent declarations from Dua Lipa have such an impact on this matter.
Dua Lipa Is Not Afraid of Backlash
“When I speak about things that are political, I double-check, triple-check myself to be: ‘OK, this is about something that is way bigger than me and it’s necessary, and that’s the only reason I’m posting it.’ That is my only solace in doing that,” she told Radio Times.
“It’s always going to be met with a backlash and other people’s opinions, so it’s a big decision. I balance it out because ultimately I feel it’s for the greater good, so I’m willing to take that.”
She also remarked that, given her background and heritage, her “very existence is somewhat political.” “It’s not something that is out of the ordinary for me to be feeling close to” she added.
This is not the first time Dua Lipa has called for a ceasefire publicly. On May 28, she wrote via Instagram:

Even though it may seem insignificant, let us give you an example of how important it is for celebrities to be vocal about the subject: Ariana Grande shared a fundraiser for humanitarian aid for Gaza. It reportedly led to an extra $50,831.954.
But of course, it has its consequences: Dua Lipa, Bella Hadid, and Mia Khalifa were recently death-threatened by Ness and Stilla, an Israel Rap duo. In the song, the rappers call for the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) to attack the three celebrities.
