‘Zack and Cody: Twins in Action’ was one of Disney‘s most successful and popular series, starring Cole and Dylan Sprouse. The brothers gave us hundreds of laughs, but behind the television screen, not everything was rosy. Well, although many of us did not know it, Dylan was the victim of humiliation by a company executive, who embarrassed him in front of the production team because his body was not as thin as that of his brother.
This dark episode behind the series was revealed by Kim Rhodes, the actress who played the twins’ mother, in a recent interview for Christy Carlson Romano’s “Vulnerable” podcast. The 54-year-old actress recalled that on one occasion a Disney Channel executive, about whom she avoided giving his name, shouted at the production team “not to put junk food on the set” until Dylan lost weight and looked like his brother Cole. The bad attitude of the channel executive was not tolerated by Rhodes, who did not hesitate to defend the little actor.
“I thought, You have no right to say that to a child. You have no right to write for children if that is your attitude. “Never talk like that again, ever,” said the actress. She added: “Dylan and Cole had different body types and in front of everyone, Dylan was body shamed by him. “It was the only time I advocated for them.”
Dylan Sprouse Returned the Favor by Defending Her
Dylan Sprouse never forgot the way Kim Rhodes defended him, because sometime later, the actor returned the favor by objecting to making a ‘fat joke‘ about her during her pregnancy in real life. Kim recalled that even though the script had a practical joke about her, Dylan skipped that part of the dialogue every time the scene was recorded.
“He skips it and the executive producer yells, ‘Cut! Dylan, say the line! And he said I wouldn’t disrespect any woman like that, least of all this woman. “Write something funny and I’ll say it,” Rhodes recalled.
