She also shared a video on YouTube where she explained everything about her pregnancy.

“Well…the rumors are true! Ken and I are so excited to start our family together and I can’t wait to share my journey with you here on YouTube and my other social media platforms. Thank you for all your support so far and I can’t wait to see our family grow.”

She also shared she is eleven weeks pregnant, and that even though the baby wasn’t planned and it was “completely unexpected”, the couple is excited to take on the parenthood journey.

Gypsy also explained her symptoms and how she found out she was pregnant.

Who is Gypsy Blanchard?

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is a young woman, nearly 32 years old, who ended up in prison due to her involvement in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, which occurred on June 14, 2015, at the hands of Nicholas Godejohn.

But before discussing the horrific event, we need to go back many years to better understand her story and what motivated Gypsy to rise against her mother while she was asleep in their home in Springfield, Missouri.

The origin of everything, according to official information in the case, which was documented in productions like “Mommy Dead and Dearest,” “Gypsy’s Revenge,” and the dramatization “The Act,” dates back to when Gypsy was three months old. Her mother took her to the hospital because she felt Gypsy had respiratory problems.

Gypsy was diagnosed with sleep apnea and had to use a device to improve her breathing. However, her mother was not satisfied with the diagnosis and took her from doctor to doctor until Gypsy was seven, searching for a satisfactory answer.

The reality was that Gypsy was not sick at all, but her mother made her and her relatives believe she had a chromosomal disorder, which supposedly prevented her from developing properly and forced her to spend almost all her time in a wheelchair.

The Lie Keeps Growing

Dee Dee was convinced her daughter was unwell, so she took her to Louisiana, far from anyone they knew, supposedly to provide the care Gypsy needed. However, what Dee Dee actually did was overprotect her to the point of committing various abuses.

She fed Gypsy through a feeding tube, causing her to lose significant weight. Due to Gypsy’s supposed asthma problems, Dee Dee forced her to use an oxygen tank whenever they left the house.

Dee Dee even claimed that Gypsy suffered from epilepsy and muscular dystrophy, preventing her from moving much, even at home. She forced Gypsy to take medications that allegedly caused her teeth to fall out, though some theories suggest Dee Dee had them removed.

Gypsy was forced to stay indoors most of the time, receiving all her education from Dee Dee. Although medical personnel occasionally visited to check on her, they never conducted a real diagnosis and fully trusted Dee Dee’s claims about her daughter’s conditions.

Later, Dee Dee claimed her daughter had leukemia, shaving her head completely. This turned Gypsy into a local star, leading some organizations to provide free trips paid for by benefactors, such as Make-A-Wish, which took them to Disneyland.

Gypsy Begins Planning Her Revenge

Gypsy grew increasingly tired of her mother’s abuse and tried to escape more than once, which only led Dee Dee to chain her to the house to prevent her from leaving.

Years later, after visiting doctors around 100 times between 2005 and 2014, Gypsy got the “opportunity” of her life: her mother bought a computer for both of them, which she was allowed to use occasionally.

Gypsy took advantage of the situation and connected to various chat rooms at night to seek help and learn more about the outside world. At 24, she met Nicholas Godejohn, 23, who became her virtual boyfriend.

Gypsy told her online boyfriend everything Dee Dee had done to her over the years and expressed her sadness that her mother would never accept their relationship. Together, they decided to end it all by killing Dee Dee so they could escape and live happily together.

The Murder Of Dee Dee Blanchard

Nicholas traveled from his home to meet his beloved. They waited until nightfall to murder Dee Dee in the early hours of June 12, 2015.

According to police reports, Dee Dee received 17 stab wounds in various parts of her body. The couple then fled to Wisconsin, where they were found by police alerted by neighbors who believed Gypsy had been kidnapped by her mother’s murderer.

The young couple was arrested, and investigations revealed the truth: all the abuse Gypsy had endured at the hands of her mother and her reasons for seeking help from an internet stranger to free herself from her captor.

Gypsy and Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy

Gypsy was placed under security custody and later put on trial, where she was found guilty of second-degree murder. However, the jury showed compassion for her due to her experiences with Dee Dee, sentencing her to only ten years in prison.

In contrast, her boyfriend was sentenced to life in prison after being found guilty of first-degree murder.

During the investigation, some specialists and doctors confirmed that Gypsy did not suffer from any of the illnesses her mother claimed. Instead, it was likely she had developed Munchausen syndrome by proxy.

This mental disorder, considered a form of child abuse, occurs when a person fakes illnesses and conditions in typically vulnerable individuals, such as children. This behavior stems from a need to continually control someone to feel a certain level of power and to gain attention and approval from others, which fits the case of Gypsy and her mother.
