Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a psychological disorder where her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, fabricated illnesses and disabilities to gain attention and sympathy.

Gypsy Rose Mother Faked Her Daughter Medical Condition

Dee Dee convinced doctors and others that Gypsy Rose had multiple conditions, including muscular dystrophy, epilepsy, and leukemia, even though Gypsy Rose was perfectly healthy.
Dee Dee subjected Gypsy Rose to unnecessary medical procedures, such as removing her salivary glands and shaving her head, and kept her in a wheelchair. Gypsy was also homeschooled and isolated from the outside world, living under the constant control and manipulation of her mother.
Gypsy’s dental procedure is particularly meaningful for her, given her history of medical abuse by her mother, Claudine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.

After undergoing significant dental surgery, Gypsy Rose proudly showcased her new smile, which has been a long-time goal for her.
The transformation involved replacing her silver-capped teeth with realistic-looking porcelain veneers, thanks to the skilled work of Dr. Michelle Corcoran at Peppermint Sage Dental.

She expressed her gratitude in an Instagram post, thanking the dental team for the “best glow-up” she could have ever dreamed of.

Now that Gypsy has reclaimed her smile and her confidence, it marks a significant step in her journey of healing and self-empowerment which she’d also want for her upcoming baby girl.
Dee Dee Murdered by Gypsy After Her Heavily Neglected Childhood
In 2015, Gypsy met Nicholas Godejohn online, and they conspired to kill Dee Dee. Nicholas stabbed Dee Dee to death while Gypsy Rose was hiding in a bathroom.
Gypsy Rose was arrested and later sentenced to 10 years in prison for her involvement in the murder. She was released on parole in December 2023 after serving eight years.

Since her release, Gypsy has been working to reclaim her life and share her story to raise awareness about Munchausen syndrome by proxy. She has written a memoir, “My Time to Stand,” and is preparing to become a mother herself.
