Jay Leno, the 74-year-old former Tonight Show host was recently spotted in Los Angeles sporting visible injuries from a recent accident—a bruised face, a swollen-shut eye, and a broken wrist.
The incident happened on Saturday, Nov. 16, when Leno took a tumble down a 60-foot hill outside a hotel near Pittsburgh. Staying at the top of a hill, Leno decided to take a shortcut to a nearby restaurant instead of walking the mile-and-a-half route. “The hill doesn’t look that steep,” Leno recalled thinking. But as he started his descent, things went downhill—literally.
“I fell down. Boom, boom, boom. I rolled down the hill, hit my head on a rock, knocked me in the eye,” Leno told TMZ. The fall left him with injuries including a broken wrist, a missing fingernail, and severe bruising along the entire left side of his body.
Despite the injuries, Leno didn’t let the accident slow him down. Just three hours later, he took the stage for a scheduled performance at a casino in Southern California.

He joked about the situation, telling Inside Edition: “The great thing about this age [is] you don’t learn by your mistakes, you just keep doing the same stupid thing.”

Someone Please Protect Jay Leno

This isn’t the first time Leno has bounced back from a serious injury. In November 2022, he suffered second- and third-degree burns on his face, chest, and hands after a gasoline fire broke out while he was working on a steam engine in his garage. The injuries required multiple surgeries and a 10-day stay at the Grossman Burn Center.
And if that weren’t enough, he endured a motorcycle accident in January 2023. Yet Leno’s resilience and humor remain intact. Now, people are saying he is making it up, stating he was actually beaten up. Can you believe it?

After his recent fall, he performed another stand-up show in Beverly Hills on Monday, brushing off concerns about pain. “It’s not that big a deal,” he told reporters.
Through it all, Leno’s indefatigable spirit shines. Whether it’s burns, bruises, or broken bones, the comedian’s commitment to making audiences laugh remains unshakable. As he quipped about his recent misstep, “At this age, you just keep doing the same stupid thing.” But let’s just hope he stays careful.
