A little over a month since the death of Mathew Perry, Julia Roberts spoke out about it. Julia Roberts and Mathew Perry had a brief and fleeting relationship in 1995 after the actress made a cameo in the series Friends. The story goes that Perry sent Roberts flowers to convince her to go on the show, and then they began communicating by fax and phone. The couple dated for a few months, and even traveled to New Mexico together to celebrate New Year’s in 1996.
However, Perry decided to end the relationship because he felt insecure and inferior to Roberts, and feared that she would leave him, as he confessed in her autobiographical book.

What Did Julia Roberts Say?
Of her sudden death, Julia told ET: “The sudden passing of someone so young is heartbreaking. “I think, you know, it helps us all appreciate what we have and move forward in a positive way as best we can.”
In his memoirs, Matthew wrote about Julia: “I sent her three dozen red roses and the card said, ‘The only thing more exciting than the prospect of you doing the show is that I finally have an excuse to send you flowers.” In her book Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, Perry gave details about her romance with Roberts in the ’90s.
