And there were five… Finally, all of the main cast of Friends have shared an emotional farewell message to Matthew Perry, who sadly passed away two weeks ago at his home in LA. Lisa Kudrow finally followed the steps of Matt Leblanc, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, and David Schwimmer to honor their great friend.
Sharing an old Polaroid photo, Lisa Kudrow gave a poignant thank you message to Perry, sharing how they met and how the made the entire group bond with a hilarious poker game. “You suggested we play poker AND made it so much fun while we initially bonded. Thank you for that.”
Like the other actors, Lisa remembered his brilliance in comedy and his great talent for making everything laugh even when he wasn’t at his best times. “Thank you for making me laugh so hard at something you said, that my muscles ached, and tears poured down my face EVERY DAY.”
As we’ve seen, despite his dark moments, Matthew was always the one who glued the team together with his charisma, open heart, and unconditional friendship: “Thank you for your open heart in a six-way relationship that required compromise. And a lot of ‘talking.’ Thank you for showing up at work when you weren’t well and then, being completely brilliant.”
She closes her post thanking him for “the best 10 years a person gets to have. Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for all I learned about GRACE and LOVE through knowing you. Thank you for the time I got to have with you, Matthew.”
Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay in the series, made us cry not only by reminding us of the great person Matthew Perry was but also by showing us that although we met him through his characters, mainly Chandler, they weren’t as different and loving as he was in his real private life. He will be dearly missed.
