It seems that the ghosts of Christmas visited Kanye West and he has now realized the danger behind his words, as this Tuesday, the self-called genius decided to apologize for his past antisemitic comments in a lengthy post written in Hebrew.

Ye issued a formal apology to the Jewish community on Tuesday, seeking to address a sequence of deeply troubling antisemitic comments he had made in the previous year. The controversy began in October 2022 during Paris Fashion Week when Ye wore a shirt bearing the slogan “White Lives Matter” and posted an alarming antisemitic tweet, wherein he ominously declared, “Death con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE.”

Subsequently, he took to Instagram to share a screenshot of a text conversation with the prominent producer and music mogul, Sean Combs, insinuating that Combs was being controlled by individuals of Jewish descent. The repercussions were significant, with major brands like Adidas and Creative Artists Agency severing ties with the artist. Additionally, Ye faced suspension from X (former Twitter), although his account has since been reinstated.

Despite a prior apology for the initial tweetYe persisted in making antisemitic remarks. In an interview with right-wing commentator Alex Jones, he made controversial statements such as, “I love Jewish people, but I also love Nazis. I do love Hitler.” The gravity of Ye’s antisemitism reached new heights in December 2022 during another interview with right-wing pundit Alex Jones.

West expressed disturbing admiration for Hitler, asserting, “I see good things about Hitler… Every human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler … [Nazis] did good things, too … There’s a lot of things that I love about Hitler.” To exacerbate matters, he posted an image blending a swastika with a Star of David.

Today, attempting to lessen the damage caused, Ye issued a sincere public apology to the Jewish community. In his statement, he acknowledged the unintended nature of his outbursts and expressed deep regret for any pain caused. He committed to self-reflection, vowing to learn from the experience to foster greater sensitivity and understanding in the future

“I sincerely apologize to the Jewish community for any ‘unintended outburst.’ It was not my intention to hurt or demean, and I deeply regret any pain I may have caused. I am committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future. Your forgiveness is important to me, and I am committed to making amends and promoting unity,” reads the apology.

He emphasized the importance of seeking forgiveness and pledged to make amends, promoting unity. However, not everybody buys it. The Anti-Defamation League, while acknowledging Ye’s apology, underscored that actions speak louder than words. In an email statement on Tuesday, a spokesman for the organization acknowledged the damage caused by Ye’s influence, emphasizing that an apology in Hebrew may be the initial step on a long journey toward making amends.

“After causing untold damage by using his vast influence and platform to poison countless minds with vicious antisemitism and hate, an apology in Hebrew may be the first step on a long journey toward making amends to the Jewish community and all those who he has hurt,” a spokesman said via email.

Looking ahead, Ye’s upcoming album, Vultures, initially delayed, is slated for release on January 12. In a peculiar turn, the title track features Ye asserting that he cannot be antisemitic due to a past relationship with a Jewish woman. In a subsequent incident this month, West was captured on film in Las Vegas delivering a disjointed and controversial rant. Among his statements were references to Zionists and a seemingly incongruous association between hospitals, Jesus Christ, Hitler, and himself.
