The Broward County Sheriff’s Office announced that Kingston was apprehended without incident following a warrant for multiple fraud and theft charges. Investigators indicated that he would be transported to the San Bernardino County jail in California.
Kingston was arrested while performing at Fort Irwin, a U.S. Army base located in the desert, about 150 miles from Los Angeles. He was scheduled to perform at an event for military families when the arrest occurred.
Kingston’s legal issues stem from a lawsuit filed by Ver Ver Entertainment, accusing him of contract breach and fraud concerning a colossal 232-inch television and sound system worth approximately $110,000. According to Ver Ver Entertainment, Kingston promised to create promotional videos featuring Justin Bieber to secure the installation of the equipment with an initial payment. However, they allege that he failed to make subsequent payments and fulfill promotional commitments.

Court documents reveal that Kingston agreed to make an initial payment of $30,000 and another of $47,827.16, along with social media promotions. However, the plaintiffs claim he did not honor these terms.
Hours after the SWAT team raided Kingston’s rented mansion in South Florida and confiscated various items, Kingston was detained on fraud charges.

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office reported that Kingston was taken into custody at Fort Irwin, located approximately 240 kilometers northeast of Los Angeles, following a Florida warrant. Earlier that day, his 61-year-old mother was arrested at the 14,000-square-foot home in Southwest Ranches, a luxurious Fort Lauderdale suburb.

Broward County prosecutors redirected inquiries to the sheriff’s office, which withheld specific details about the charges, citing an ongoing investigation. Reporters observed authorities loading a van with items from the mansion, which was surrounded by high-end sports cars.
Kingston had earlier posted on Instagram, “People love negative energy! I’m fine, and so is my mother… My lawyers are handling everything right now.” The post was later removed.
The Jamaican-American rapper, best known for his 2007 chart-topper “Beautiful Girls,” and hits like “Take You There,” and “Eenie Meenie,” a collaboration with Justin Bieber, has not released a major label project in over a decade. In 2011, he sustained nearly fatal injuries in a jet ski accident.
“He creates this larger-than-life persona of being wealthy. His mother is a crucial part of this. He presents himself as a family-oriented guy, ‘taking care of my mom,’ but she is fully aware of what’s happening.” said lawyer Dennis Card to The Associated Press.
In November, Kingston paid the company $30,000, and the television was installed. The lawsuit states that no commercials were made, nor were further payments made, despite numerous assurances.
The lawsuit also notes that Kingston no longer has a working relationship with Bieber, who recently parted ways with his long-time manager. Bieber’s contact information was not available for comment.
“Bieber is not involved in this at all,” Card said. “He had the misfortune of working with Sean in the past, and Sean uses his name wildly.”
