After the recent death of Shannen Doherty due to breast cancer, some of us who were fans of her work and her person ran to her official social media accounts to see what was the last thing the 53-year-old actress had posted and if it had to do with his death. So it was.
Actress Shannen Doherty, known for her roles in television series such as ‘Charmed’ and ‘Beverly Hills 90210’, died this Saturday at the age of 53, according to several American media reports. In 2015 the performer was diagnosed with breast cancer.
“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease,” confirmed Doherty’s publicist Leslie Sloane exclusively to PEOPLE magazine.
In a previous interview with the recently deceased actress, she confessed that she still had the will to live and that it was simply not her time yet:
“I’m not done with living. I’m not done with loving. I’m not done with creating. I’m not done with hopefully changing things for the better, I’m just not — I’m not done,” said Shannen.
According to some media, in 2023 the actress said that the cancer that she had, returned in 2020 (which she had already overcome two years after suffering from it in 2015) had reached her brain, where she had metastasis and later also affected her bones.

In her latest video posted to her Instagram, Shannen spoke about her recent emotional experiences dealing with cancer recently. She specifically talked about how neither she nor her doctors could predict how long her chemotherapy treatment would last.
“I have no idea how long I’m going to be on the chemo for. I’ve no idea if it’s going to be you know three months or if it’s gonna be six months… or if it’s not working if we’re gonna change again. That’s not something that I can predict, it’s not something my doctors can predict,” she said.

But she also talked about her feelings around all of this “it’s scary, it’s like a big wake up call. At the same time I got to say that there is some positivity there” being clear on the hope she has around all the options she had back then.
We’re surely going to remember Shannen Doherty with that optimism and hopefulness she always had.
