If you watched the Super Bowl with the traditional commentators, let us tell you you did it all wrong! For the first time, Nickelodeon decided to raise their game and make their own broadcast of the legendary match with none other than SpongeBob Squarepants as the face of the show!
To start with, the iconic orange studio gave us a remake of the classic “Sweet Victory” skit from the cartoon making us all cry, sing out loud, and laugh. Then SpongeBob and Patrick Star went live to comment on the match where the Kansas City Chiefs beat the San Francisco 49ers at the last minute. Besides Bob and Patrick, Larry the Lobster and Sandy Cheeks were also reporting from the field alongside other characters from the company like the Ninja Turtles and Dora the Explorer, who gave us some great lessons on Football. Epic already!

But besides the cute and fun coverage of the match to make the Super Bowl kids-friendly, what many users applauded and were even shocked about was the fact that SpongeBob (voiced live by Tom Kenny) decided to take a brutal dig at Leonardo DiCaprio while he was caught on camera watching from his box. The broadcast decided to focus the shot on some celebrities and when it was the turn of the Killers of the Flower Moon star, our favorite yellow character didn’t hold back!
As we were all seeing DiCaprio enjoying his drink and not engaging with the camera, SpongeBob simply said “Leonardo DiCaprio! 25!” Naturally, some giggles came out from Bob and Patrick but in case the joke wasn’t clear, he added “That was about his dating history.” Burn! Of course, this has to do with the running joke (although it’s not really a joke) that the actor almost exclusively dates women under 25.
