Rosalía is far from being one of the most “canceled” artists out there, and she rarely finds herself in controversy. However, this recent backlash has sparked reflection about the kind of artists we support—and what it means when they remain silent in the face of global tragedies.
The ongoing and tragic genocide carried out by Israel against Palestine is no secret. In recent months, global media have reported on the famine and torture that the Israeli government is inflicting on the Palestinian people. Many artists around the world have spoken out about what’s happening in Gaza. Notably, Residente and Judeline pulled out of a Spanish music festival over the event’s alleged ties to Israel.
Rosalía, however, has remained largely silent.

Rosalía Accused of “Covering Up Genocide”
Spanish designer Miguel Adrover recently refused to collaborate with Rosalía on a custom outfit she had requested for an event in September. His reason? The singer has not publicly supported Palestine. Adrover and many activists argue that staying silent on this issue is a form of complicity.
He shared screenshots of emails between his team and Rosalía’s, making it clear that he won’t work with any artist who hasn’t taken a public stance in favor of the Palestinian people. In his message, he stated:
“Rosalía, this isn’t personal. I admire your talent, but you have a moral responsibility to use your voice to speak out against this genocide.”

Some sources claim that Rosalía did share a humanitarian message in support of Gaza back in October 2023, but she quickly deleted it and has remained silent ever since. While this could be a PR strategy, many activists view such silence as complicity and even cover-up—turning this incident into an opportunity to criticize not just Rosalía, but other artists as well.
So far, Rosalía has not responded publicly to Adrover’s decision, and her management team, Seven 7 Management, has also declined to comment since the designer made his stance public.
