Bad Bunny has proven to be the best in music, and now he will do the same in film because nothing is impossible for the Puerto Rican. Benito has transcended in music awards and has stood out with recognitions that he has earned for the effort and love he puts into his work. Now, in addition to Grammys and Billboard, Bad Bunny could win an award at the Cannes Film Festival.

Bad Bunny Gets Nominated at the Cannes Film Festival

Bad Bunny released his 22-minute documentary El Apagón – Aquí Vive Gente, which talks about the electricity crisis in Puerto Rico, the musician’s country of origin, just as he does in his song ‘El Apagón’ which he also sang during his performance at the Grammys and also in both weekends of Coachella.

Through social networks, director Kacho López Mari, director of the documentary El Apagón – Aquí Vive Gente, announced his nomination to the prestigious film festival that this year will be held in France.

“‘El Apagón’ achieves the shortlist at Cannes in the Excellence in Music Video category, Entertainment Lions for Music. Bad Bunny, thank you for your vision, your ideas, and for counting on us to help you put these ideas in front of the world…,” wrote the filmmaker.

What is Bad Bunny’s El Apagón – Aquí Vive Gente About?

After Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico in 2017 the country was left without electricity, in 2021 they announced the privatization of electric power to Luma Energy, a U.S. company. The documentary goes back to the fact that after this blackout there were several cases of corruption by the foreign company, which caused serious complications in the lives of all Puerto Ricans, even, citizens made several demonstrations about it.

Likewise, the musician’s documentary shows how Puerto Ricans live their daily lives facing shortages and injustices. And, as if that were not enough, a series of names of governors and businessmen who did not respond or did not want to be interviewed for the material are shown at the end of the documentary.

It seems that Bad Bunny is also conquering the world of cinema and we can’t handle so much Latin pride.
