The new posters and teaser for Barbie have made us crazy and have increased our anticipation for the release day.
Now we know what the cast of Barbie looks like and we love them all, they look much better than we imagined and we sense that it will be one of our favorite movies of 2023.
For those of us who grew up with the pink story of Barbie, everything seemed very nice, however, the new generations have had several doubts.
And by the Way… Who Is Allan in ‘Barbie’?
In the new images of Barbie, the character that caught the most attention was Michael Cera’s portrayal of Allan, who looks great and all. However, on social media, especially among the new generations, there were questions about who this doll is within the story.
Allan is Ken’s best friend and Midge’s boyfriend; he was launched in 1964 and the commercials to promote him claimed that he could wear all of Ken’s clothes.
Allan was released a year after his girlfriend, who became the first pregnant doll in the Barbie universe, but was also heavily criticized because the company released her without a wedding ring, which the more traditional sector disagreed with. Midge was withdrawn and relaunched with the request fulfilled.
Allan’s Story
Allan and Midge were launched as the representation of a traditional “happy family”; in fact, in their story, the couple had three children: Ryan, Nikki, and baby Cassandra.
Allan is the brother of Scott and Ryan Sherwood, and best friend of Steven and, as we already told you, Ken Carson.
Allan’s appearances have been very scarce, which is why it was difficult for the new generations to recognize him; the most notable were in 1964-1965, 1991, and 2002.
After Midge was canceled, along with the image of the “happy family”, Allan, the best friend of Ken, was not seen again… until now.
‘Barbie’ and its Live-Action
Barbie will be starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, and the film will feature several nostalgic homages to the history of the most beloved doll worldwide; one of them is the reference to the first piece of the brand launched in 1959, where the actress wears a black and white striped bodysuit.
The bad news is that, despite having many previews already, we will have to wait a few more months for its release, as it is scheduled for July 21, 2023.
We can’t wait any longer and we’re eager to see the Barbie live-action.
