Ever wondered what it’s like to get slimed by a ghost? Well, Finn Wolfhard spills the gooey details from his experience filming ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’. In this upcoming sequel set to hit theaters today, Wolfhard’s character, Trevor Spengler, faces off against the iconic ghost Slimer.
From the trailers, it’s evident that Slimer steals the spotlight as he surprises Trevor with a sliming moment. According Entertainment Weekly, Wolfhard describes the scene as “really awesome,” highlighting the practical effects used to bring it to life. A squib mechanism and a gelatin mix created the gooey ectoplasm that shoots out of Trevor during the sliming scene.
“They had this squib that like goes off when the slime comes out of me,” he recalls. “[I had] this little rig on the middle of my chest, and it would basically [shoot out] this sort of… I guess it would be like gelatin mix? I don’t really know what it was, but it would shoot out of my shirt, and it was so awesome.”
But what does ghost slime taste like? According to Wolfhard, it’s not as bad as you might think. He compares it to “minty, thick water,” which he finds preferable to fake blood commonly used in films. This minty surprise was a relief compared to other on-screen experiences.
In the interview, Wolfhard shared his experience, mentioning that the ectoplasm “really wasn’t that bad” to eat. His co-star Mckenna Grace, who plays Trevor’s sister Phoebe, agreed that it was surprisingly tolerable.
“I was talking to Mckenna [Grace, who plays Trevor’s sister Phoebe] earlier and I was saying that it really didn’t taste like anything. It was almost like minty, thick water,” he explains. “Which sounds gross, but it’s so much better than having, like, fake blood in your mouth! Way less sugary and gross.”
Despite the challenges, Wolfhard’s enthusiasm for the role shines through, showing his dedication to bringing ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’ to life, slimy parts and all.
