Fans of Euphoria woke up to bad news after a supposed cancellation of the show by HBO, as reported by World of Reel claiming the program had been completely scrapped.
Sam Levinson’s teen drama, according to the report, “is not happening”. They had plans to shoot it this summer, but it fell through, and on Friday they told the cast they could free up their schedules for other projects.
“I was already surprised that Levinson had managed to gather all the talent involved, given their tight schedules. Many of the actors from the show have now become movie stars: Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Colman Domingo, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, and Austin Abrams, to name a few. The plan to reunite them all for a third and final season clearly has failed,” it says.
HBO’s Response
Meanwhile, Variety magazine reached out to a spokesperson for the network to verify the news, and they assured that the third season of the popular series is delayed: HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season,” they said. “Meanwhile, we are allowing our highly sought-after cast to pursue other opportunities.”
According to the publication, scripts for the third season are still being written. And the production of the third season has been delayed for a long time, in part due to Hollywood strikes and the death in July 2023 of Angus Cloud, who played local drug dealer Fez.

Also, because the show catapulted most of its cast to stardom, it makes it difficult to coordinate the production schedules for the third season.
In 2023, HBO confirmed that the third season of the show was expected to premiere in 2025, which means there would be at least a three-year gap between seasons since Season 2. Due to the time between seasons, rumors of a possible cancellation have increased.
In an interview with Jimmy Fallon in January, Jacob Elordi joked that Season 3 would have to take place in the future, otherwise, “it would seem a bit strange.”
