Simone Biles has made history by securing her second gold medal in the all-around final, becoming the first American gymnast to achieve this feat.
Her first victory came at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Although she withdrew from the all-around final in the Tokyo 2020 Games due to the “twisties,” her teammate Sunisa Lee claimed the gold during those games.

At the age of 27, Biles also stands out as the oldest gymnast to win the all-around gold since 1952. The only other gymnasts to have won this event twice are Larisa Latynina from the Soviet Union and Věra Čáslavská from Czechoslovakia, both of whom competed in the 1960s.

Biles’ victory today came after an uncertain moment due to a mistake on the bars. However, she recovered strongly on the beam and floor exercises, ultimately defeating silver medalist Rebeca Andrade by a margin of 1.100 points.

Her performance included the world’s most challenging floor routine, set to Taylor Swift’s “…Ready For It?“, earning her a score of 15.066.
Looking ahead, if Biles competes in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, she could surpass the record for the most gold medals ever won in the individual all-around. For now, that remains a possibility to watch for.
