Many questions and few answers regarding the case of Carlee Russell, the woman who disappeared because after wanting to help a child who was walking alone on a highway in the United States.
It all happened on July 13, 2023, around 9:34 p.m., when she called 911 to report that she had just seen a child on the side of an interstate in the city of Hoover, Alabama. Authorities asked her for details on how to get to the scene. When she hung up, the nursing student spoke to one of her family members to tell her what was happening and said she would get out of her car to verify that the child was there.
After a few minutes, the police arrived, but the scene was completely different from what the woman had described: her car was parked, and all her belongings, such as her cell phone, were right there, but there was no trace of her or any child.
Carlee Russell Appeared Alive Three Days Later
Police began an investigation to find Carlee Russell and offered a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who provided information on her whereabouts. Three days after she was reported missing, a statement was released to announce that she had been found alive on July 15, 2023, at 22:45 hours.
The young woman returned home ‘under her own steam.’ She was later transported by authorities to a hospital for medical attention. The police provided details of what happened before and after she was found, but nothing related to her disappearance, according to them, because it is still unconfirmed information.
For his part, Thomar Simmons, Carlee’s boyfriend, thanked through his social networks all those people who supported the young woman’s return home; however, he detailed that she needed time to recover from the traumatic event.
Why Happened to Carlee Russell?
The disappearance of Carlee Russell remains a mystery. There is talk of some paranormal events, but also that she may have been the victim of a kidnapping and that the child may have been used as bait to commit the crime.
The young girl’s mother revealed to the media that her brother’s girlfriend was talking to her when she asked the boy if he was all right. He heard her screaming, and then it was just a road noise. There is a witness who claims to have seen a man dressed in gray near Carlee’s car; they also say he was in a hotel near the area where she disappeared, and an employee of the place was the one who alerted the authorities.
So far, everything is confusing, nothing official, but it is expected that in the next few days, the young woman will be able to give her statement to the police, and things will start to become clearer.
