This is the first black podium in olympic gymnastics history

OMG This was the first black podium in Olympic gymnastics history! Our Simone Biles took the silver at the women’s floor gymnastic final and Rebeca Andrade from Brazil won the gold one. In any case, we’re proud of all of them.

During the latest artistic gymnastics event, Rebeca Andrade became the most decorated Olympic medalist in Brazil’s history. While Jordan Chiles won the bronze medal and Simone Biles took the silver, we couldn’t be prouder of women making history day by day at the Olympics.

Rebeca Rodrigues de Andrade, born on May 8, 1999, is a Brazilian artistic gymnast who has achieved remarkable success in her career. She’s the first Brazilian female gymnast to medal at the Olympics. And is also the second Brazilian woman to win a gold medal at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

Among female gymnasts, she’s one of only 11 to medal on every event in World Championships history, alongside Simone Biles and Aliya Mustafina.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Rebeca won gold in the vault and secured silver in the all-around events. In the 2024 events Rebeca has earned silver in the vault and the all-around, as well as a bronze medal with the Brazilian team and of course her newest gold medal in floor.

In the history of artistic gymnastics, we had never seen a podium with Black athletes in all three spots. This sets a more than historic precedent, as future generations will remember this moment, proving that truly anything is possible.

On the other hand, we are truly proud of both Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles, who showed in event after event how well-deserved each of their medals is. Simone became the second most decorated gymnast of all time with 11 medals: 7 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze.

As an act of love and respect, Jordan and Simone bowed to Brazilian Rebeca on the podium.

This only demonstrates the humility and professionalism that both athletes have, as well as the admiration for a perfect job.
