The case of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the young woman who plotted to kill her mother in 2015 after years of abuse, is back in the news now that she has regained her freedom after serving a long prison sentence.
Eight years was the length of time the 32-year-old was held at the Chillicothe Correctional Centre in Chillicothe, Missouri, which she managed to get out of thanks to her parole. However, now that Gypsy is free, her story has once again made its way around the world and, at the same time, fills us with sadness as we learn of all the suffering that the young woman had to endure throughout her life.
Her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, made everyone believe that the little girl had leukemia, and to achieve this she constantly shaved her head, fed her through a tube, and subjected her to numerous surgeries and treatments even though the little girl was perfectly healthy.
It was the years of abuse and mistreatment that made Gypsy believe that she had no alternative to escape this hell but to kill her mother, a crime she committed in 2015 with her ex-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn.
Despite her tormented life, the young woman was able to begin, little by little, to rebuild her life inside prison, and in 2022, she married Ryan Scott Anderson, whom she met through correspondence in 2020 when she was still serving her sentence.
Gypsy Rose’s Husband Looks Like Her Mother
Now that Gypsy Rose Blanchard has started a new chapter in her life, another detail has caught the attention of thousands of people, as several Internet users have found a great resemblance between Gypsy’s husband and her mother. Through social networks, hundreds of people have begun to publish videos comparing the physical similarities between the two and, although it may seem strange, we have to accept that the similarity of their features is uncanny.
It is for that reason that through the Internet many people believe that Gypsy could be going through a kind of Oedipus complex, which is a theory of Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalysis that says that children tend to repress loving feelings towards their mother and hostile towards the father, seeing him as a rival.
However, according to several psychologists, this could have an explanation, as this behavior could be related to how children learn during childhood to define love, which means that in adulthood they tend to unconsciously look for a partner who resembles their parents. Whatever the case, what is important in this case, is that Gypsy does not repeat her mother’s behavior patterns and, unlike her, finally manages to live a happy life.
