In a video that has caused commotion on social networks, a hammerhead shark surprised several tourists while they were swimming at a well-known beach in San Andrés in Colombia. Faced with the emergency, tour operators had to help people who were screaming after panicking.

In the images you can see how people immediately get out of the water and those who were outside record the shark a few meters from the shore. At that time, several tour operators try to ward off the shark on board a jet ski. The animal was hunting a manta ray.
“We all got scared and ran towards the beach. There were many people in the sea when the shark was eating the stingray. At this time, there were still people swimming and even people came out screaming. Children and adults. “It was chaos,” said one of the witnesses.
Given what happened, environmental authorities in Colombia criticized how the operators tried to scare away the shark; above, considering that the hammerhead shark is a protected species. Despite the incident, the local government pointed out that San Andrés beach is safe for tourists and that the situation of the shark was normal within an ecological environment in which the manta ray is part of its feeding routine.
