Bella Hadid and Adidas Controversy
Adidas recently faced backlash over an ad campaign featuring supermodel Bella Hadid. The campaign showcased shoes modeled after Adidas’ SL72 sneakers, which were originally designed for the 1972 Munich Olympics. Unfortunately, that event was marred by tragedy when members of the Palestinian group Black September killed two Israeli athletes. The ad received criticism for its insensitivity.
In response, Adidas pulled the ad and issued an apology, clarifying that the campaign was not meant to reference the tragic event. Bella Hadid, whose father is Palestinian, has urged support for civilians in Gaza during the Israel-Hamas conflict. She reportedly hired a legal team to sue Adidas for their “lack of public accountability.”
