Google fined by russian court - russian court fines google for the astronomical amount of 20 decillion dollars

Haunted House but it’s really just Russia lawsuit against Google. This is probably the most insane lawsuit has ever existed. A Russian court has imposed a staggering fine of $20 decillion (equivalent to $20,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000) on Google.

This fine is more than 195 quintillion times the world’s GDP and far exceeds Google’s market value of $2 trillion.

Why Did Russian Court Fined Google?

The lawsuit stems from Google’s decision to block several pro-Kremlin media channels on YouTube, including Tsargrad TV and RIA FAN, following the imposition of US sanctions in 2020.

The court initially ordered Google to reinstate the channels and imposed a daily fine of 100,000 rubles ($1,025) per day, which doubled every week.

As the channels remained blocked, the fines continued to accumulate, resulting in the astronomical figure announced recently.

The fine has drawn global attention due to its sheer magnitude, which far exceeds the total money supply in the world.

Google’s Response

Despite the massive penalty, Google has shown little sign of compliance, noting in its latest earnings report that these ongoing legal matters are unlikely to impact its operations materially.

The company had already wound down its Russian division in 2022 and declared bankruptcy for its subsidiary Google LLC in Russia.

Basically Google just seems to be downplaying the significance of the fine, given its limited assets in Russia and the symbolic nature of the penalty.

The case highlights the growing tensions between Russia and major tech companies following international sanctions related to the Ukraine conflict. While Google’s services, including YouTube and Search, remain accessible in Russia, the company has faced increasing legal challenges and asset seizures by Russian authorities.
