At the edge of a lake, with calm and crystalline waters, Irene and Roberto find themselves reclined totally naked on a blanket. The moon is reflected in all its splendor across the lake, almost as if it were a ghostly apparition. They had camped out for a week in complete harmony with nature, away from all the worldly noise. Both enjoy the silence, the heat of the nightly fires they make, from the stars that dot the sky every night. One of these nights Roberto asks Irene, “Do you think that after death we become stars, having the privilege of contemplating the immensity of the universe?” Irene remains quiet for a few moments and finally responds, “I think we merge with the universe and become one with the immensity.” He holds her more tightly than ever before, and the couple feel the gravity of the night swallow them.
The connection with our partners goes beyond merely an internet link, love letters, different types of kisses, from the consistency with which we have sex, the number of emoticons in text messages, or the future life plans we make together.
