Kuromi, the mischievous and seemingly adorable character, hides a terrifying secret that few dare to speak about.
The story begins years ago in Japan when the company behind Hello Kitty faced financial troubles. As sales plummeted, they desperately needed a new character to reignite interest. Employees pitched countless ideas, but none were approved.
One designer, feeling the pressure, arrived home one evening to find his daughter, Kuromi, fast asleep beside her favorite stuffed bunny. That moment sparked an idea that would change his life forever.

He stayed up all night sketching a rebellious rabbit with a jester-like black hat, a small pink skull in the center, and a devilish black tail. The next morning, he presented the concept to his boss, who immediately fell in love with it. Production started right away, but the designer had one request: the character had to be named Kuromi, after his daughter—the inspiration behind it all.
At first, sales were disappointing. No one was buying Kuromi merchandise. Desperate and willing to do anything, the creator turned to something truly terrifying.
He had heard whispers of witches who could grant any wish—for a price. Without hesitation, he sought one out and begged for help. The witch agreed but warned him that the favor would come with a dreadful consequence. Ignoring the warning, he accepted the deal.
The witch asked for his daughter’s stuffed bunny—the very one that inspired Kuromi. She placed it on a blood-drawn symbol and performed a chilling ritual. Suddenly, a deafening sound echoed, as if the gates of hell had opened. A dark shadow emerged and entered the plush toy.

Following the witch’s orders, the man returned the stuffed bunny to his daughter, telling her never to part with it.
The next morning, when he arrived at work, he was met with applause. Kuromi had become an overnight sensation. Sales skyrocketed, and he was promoted instantly. Everything seemed perfect—until the consequences of his wish began to unfold.
His daughter fell mysteriously ill. Her skin grew pale, dark circles deepened under her eyes, and she refused to eat. No doctor could explain what was happening.
In despair, he returned to the witch and pleaded for her help. She merely told him it was too late—the price had already been paid. A powerful demon had taken residence inside the stuffed bunny, slowly draining his daughter’s life force.
Furious, the man rushed home to destroy the cursed toy, but it was too late. He found his daughter collapsed on the floor, her mouth and eyes frozen open in sheer terror—as if she had witnessed something beyond human comprehension.
It is said that after that night, the Kuromi plush mysteriously disappeared. To this day, the demon still roams, searching for new children to drain… one soul at a time.
