The Simpsons did it again! The Yellow Family series is famous for predicting various real-life situations in recent years, such as when former President Donald Trump won the elections, or when they foresaw the tragic 2001 Twin Towers attack. And so it has happened with many things that make us laugh and marvel at how accurate they are.
The Simpsons Predicted the Eclipse
This time The Simpsons did it again, as they made several predictions about the total solar eclipse on April 8, 2024. In more than one episode, they showed what would happen during this celestial event, such as the episode “Marge vs. the Monorail,” season 4 episode 12, first aired in 1993. In this episode, they are going to inaugurate a monorail, but during the inauguration, the train loses control and Marge tries to stop it. At that moment, a solar eclipse begins, and the monorail starts to slow down. After the eclipse, the train speeds up again, and in the end, it is the conductor, Homer, who manages to stop it.
Another episode is episode 433 of Season 20, aired in 2009 called “Gone, Maggie, Gone” where news anchor Kent Brockman announces the solar eclipse in Springfield. In response, The Simpsons decide to watch the spectacle with homemade instruments. During this, Homer and Bart argue, leading to the destruction of the father’s homemade device. Marge offers her instrument for viewing the eclipse, but not wanting to miss the show, decides to look directly at the sun, resulting in blindness. This situation prompts the family to go about their activities, leading to the consequence of Maggie getting lost.
“Left Behind”, episode 637 of Season 29 of The Simpsons in 2009 begins with an astronomical phenomenon. In this scene, the yellow family is having pork chops for dinner in the dining room, and while Marge, Bart, and Lisa go out to see the solar eclipse, Homer refuses. Marge, concerned about the monotony in their marriage, insists on having a date night with Homer. However, during this marital conflict, Homer discovers the repercussions of his actions while trying to get a job for their neighbor Ned Flanders.
So far, none of the events have become a reality.
