In a time full of rumors and theories about UFOs and the presence of extraterrestrials, a monolith has caused great controversy after its mysterious appearance in the desert very close to the city of Las Vegas.

Mysterious monolith appears in the desert
The monolith suddenly appeared near the summit of a mountain located in the Nevada desert. According to the first reports from the Las Vegas police, the mysterious object was found in a well-known hiking area near Gass Peak.
@todayshow A search party confirmed the discovery of a 10-foot-long monolith in the desert of Las Vegas. The series of monolith sightings has sparked debate online about the source of the structures. What do you think? #HumanOrAlien? #Todayshow ♬ original sound – TODAY Show
Although the authorities do not know how the monolith arrived, the reality is that it could be part of a publicity campaign as has occurred in other similar incidents that have occurred around the world.
In early 2024, another monolith with similar characteristics appeared on a mountain in Wales. In 2020, such a structure was found in Utah and other episodes have been recorded in places such as California, Colorado and even Romania.
The other monolith found in Wales
In March this year, thousands of people were surprised by a mysterious steel monolith that appeared on a hill in Wales. Residents of Hay-on-Wye spotted the more than three-metre-high block of steel at Hay Bluff near the town of Powys over the weekend.

This follows a series of similar sightings in the UK and US in recent years. In 2020, multiple sightings were reported in largely isolated areas across Europe. A sighting at Compton Beach on the Isle of Wight and the Merry Maidens stone circle in Cornwall attracted hundreds of TikTok and Instagram users desperate to go viral.
It also generated comments on social networks that it was surely ‘the work of aliens’. Some dismissed those rumors, believing instead that it is another elaborate piece of covert art.
An extraterrestrial monolith?
The recent sightings in Wales have received a lot of criticism on social media. While they look flashy and might appeal to TikTok users, some say they’re cheesy, not fun, and harmful to the environment. Furthermore, hundreds of people claim that there is nothing ‘alien’ about them.
In 2020, two monoliths briefly appeared just months apart in Colorado, California, and Utah. These objects are similar to the one that has emerged in Wales. Therefore, the issue of works of art has not been ruled out.
