There is no doubt that ‘Baby Reindeer‘ became a streaming phenomenon. The story of comedian Richard Gadd and his stalker Martha has not stopped generating news around the world, including that the woman who inspired the show sued Netflix for $50 million.
However, ‘Baby Reindeer’ hasn’t only caused lawsuits, but also a series of theories about the true identity behind the characters, has opened the issue of sexual harassment and recalled how other celebrities have gone through similar situations.
Recently, Jessica Gunning, the actress who plays Martha in the series, has revealed that she experienced a strange moment after playing the stalker. According to her story in The Mirror, a terrified woman screamed at her in the street after she recognized her and thought she was following her.

The 38-years-old actress believes that was the moment she realized how huge the show had become.
“I came out of my house the other week and a lady was just there on the street and went, ‘Ahhh!” Gunning said. “But it’s because she’d just finished episode seven, walked out of her door and then I was there. So I understand why maybe that may have been a bit freaky!”
Baby Reindeer Raises Awareness About Harassment
In ‘Baby Reindeer’, Martha Martha becomes obsessed with Donny, played by Gadd, spending days on end on the street outside her victim’s house and sending him thousands of emails and text messages for months.

Jessica Gunning said she’s proud of Richard for inspiring other victims of sexual assault to seek help. She explains thar the impact has been incredible. “Richard is the ambassador for a charity called We Are Survivors… and they have had something like a 200% increase in email referrals since the show came out. If we can entertain people and make them talk, that’s one thing. But if you’re watching the show and it changes your life a little bit — that’s amazing.”
