‘Baby Reindeer’ has become a global phenomenon.

The story created by Richard Gadd has become one of the most watched series on Netflix, but not everything has gone well, because Fiona Harvey, the woman who supposedly inspired the character of Martha has started a legal battle against the streaming platform.

Harvey has decided to take the streaming giant to court, claiming that the series seriously defames her, painting her as an obsessed stalker, which has affected not only her reputation, but also her personal life.

For this reason, the 58-year-old woman is seeking that, if she wins the lawsuit, Netflix will have to compensate her with at least $50 million, a fortune that will surely help her not have to work for the rest of her life.

In her lawsuit, Fiona Harvey flatly denies the actions attributed to the character of Martha, played in ‘Baby Reindeer’ as a woman who insistently and overwhelmingly pursues the protagonist.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Fiona claims that she never sexually harassed or assaulted Gadd, and that she is not a convicted stalker either.

In fact, she claims that Martha’s portrayal in ‘Baby Reindeer’ has led people to falsely believe that those events are based on her real life and therefore she has had to deal with social rejection.

As if all of the above were not enough, Harvey is accusing Netflix of poorly safeguarding her identity, since the show includes real phrases that she said to Gadd and accurate descriptions of her work as a lawyer, which made it easy for the public to find it.

As a result, the woman explained that she’s become a victim of constant harassment by people from all over the world who send her messages threatening and attacking her, which has ended up seriously damaging her personal and professional life.

In addition to defamation, Harvey’s suing Netflix for negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and violations of the right of publicity, as she argues that the platform never verified the veracity of things presented in the series.
