Angelina Jolie has alleged that Brad Pitt tried to force her into signing a non-disclosure agreement “specifically designed to silence her about his abuse” during their legal battle, according to the actress’s lawyers.
Brad Pitt Allegedly Tried to Coerce Angelina Jolie into Signing NDA to Suppress Abuse Claims
Documents obtained by People magazine and filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Thursday, July 25, confirm a motion to compel Brad Pitt to reveal personal communications. According to his lawyers, these communications were described as broad and intrusive in a separate filing.

Once one of Hollywood’s most famous couples, Pitt and Jolie have been in a legal dispute since 2022, after Pitt sued Jolie for selling her stake in Château Miraval, the winery they co-owned. He claimed she violated a prior agreement that neither party would act on the business without the other’s consent.

According to the magazine, the documents reveal that Jolie’s lawyers assert she “was not acting out of malice or with the intent to harm Pitt in response to any custody ruling” when she sold her share.

“Instead, it was Pitt who refused to buy her stake unless she agreed to a new, expanded non-disclosure agreement enforceable by an $8.5 million holdback, specifically designed to silence her about his abuse and cover-up,” the document details.
In response, Jolie’s legal team stated, “While Pitt makes an argument that, in practice, is an outdated stance on the privacy of domestic violence to protect his abuse, his argument is not the law, at least not in this century, and he cites no authority that would grant him such unjustified protections,” according to the court documents.
Pitt relinquished any right to privacy protection when he sued his ex-wife, Jolie’s lawyers claimed.
Brad Pitt Allegedly Committed Abuse Against Angelina Jolie
The legal dispute between Pitt and Jolie has uncovered several details about the former couple’s relationship. This past April, the 49-year-old actress revealed that Pitt had physically assaulted her and one of their children, an accusation he denied.
The incident reportedly occurred in September 2016 while the family was flying from France to Los Angeles. This alleged abuse was the final straw that led Jolie to leave him.
The ex-couple is also involved in a separate legal battle over the custody of their children. Half of them have already reached adulthood and have dropped their father’s last name.
