After years of silence and impunity, the documentary Quiet On The Set has little by little uncovered the dark truth hidden behind the scenes of some of Nickelodeon’s most famous shows, most of which were produced by Dan Schneider. The documentary, in addition to having the crude testimony of several victims, has also revealed a series of disturbing videos in which you can implicitly see the strange and improper relationship that Schneider maintained with many of his actresses, who, at that time, they were not over 16 years old.
One of the videos that has drawn the most attention and unleashed public anger is a questionable behind-the-scenes clip of a sketch from The Amanda Show in which Amanda Bynes joins Dan Schneider in a jacuzzi. In it, you can see the producer fully clothed in a hot tub with Bynes, who appears to be wearing a bathing suit. He introduces himself as the executive producer and head writer of The Amanda Show, the teenager asks him for a raise, which is denied, and then begins to eat spaghetti in the jacuzzi while a couple of waiters dance behind them.

The video is completely weird and uncomfortable, especially because Dan looks too comfortable being in a bathtub with a minor. Karyn Finley Thompson, who worked as an editor on All That, the show that launched Bynes to stardom, was interviewed for the documentary and explained that although this scene was strange, Amanda seemed to have a very close relationship with Dan at that time she did not think worst.
“I saw Amanda being very physically close with Dan. There were many times I saw her sitting behind him hugging him or massaging his neck. Dan and Amanda had a close relationship. I didn’t think anything different than that,” she said.
Dan Schneider Continues to Deny Everything
Although Quiet on the Set is unmasking Dan Schneider, he continues to deny all accusations of abuse against him and assures that he never had any relationship beyond the professional with any of his actresses or actors. Schneider’s rep reiterated to Variety that everything that happened on the shows Dan directed was carefully vetted by dozens of adults involved and approved by the network.
“If there was a real problem with the scenes that some people, now years later, are ‘sexualizing’, they would be removed, but that’s not the case, they are still constantly broadcast around the world and enjoyed by children and parents alike,” he said.
Furthermore, he reiterated that every day on each set there were parents, caregivers, and friends watching filming and rehearsals, so if there had been scenes or outfits that were inappropriate they would have been blocked immediately.
