Katy Perry’s ‘Lifetimes’ music video is under investigation for possible environmental damage.
The Environment Department of the Balearic Islands says the production company did not request the proper authorization to film the video at the protected dunes of S’Espalmador.

Here’s the important part, because she filmed inside the dune system of s’Espalmador, within a delimited area that indicates that entry is prohibited and where all her recording equipment was also present.
However, the Balearic Islands Government opened preliminary investigation proceedings before determining whether the filming of Katy Perry’s latest video deserves a violation for not having a recording permit in the natural area of the Spanish islet of s’Espalmador in Formentera.
This islet is part of the Ses Salines Natural Park in Ibiza and Formentera (Balearic Islands) and, in a statement, the Balearic Government clarified that the producer of the video clip “in no case” requested the necessary authorization to carry out this filming legally. And that’s how Katy Perry’s environment investigation started.
But now, the Balearic Government also clarified that it would not be a crime against the environment, but an infraction, since the environmental authority can give permission for the filming of photographic reports or videos. So… it is a Katy Perry’s environment investigation but not a crime against the environment.

Katy Perry has not been the only American celebrity who took advantage of her stay in Ibiza and Formentera to work. The actor Will Smith chose the recording studio in a luxury hotel in the north of Ibiza to record his latest song.
