Why are you so obsessed with me? : rachel mcadams reveals why she wasn’t part of the mean girls ad

Almost 20 years after its premiere, Mean Girls continues to be a mass phenomenon of cinema in the 2000s. That is why it is not surprising that when its original cast got together to film an ad will draw attention to the absence of the queen bee: Rachel McAdams. The iconic actress who plays the cruel Regina George in the film finally revealed why she did not participate in Walmart’s epic Black Friday ad in the company of her co-stars: Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert.

“I don’t know, I guess I wasn’t that excited about doing an ad if I’m completely honest. I have never done commercials and it just wasn’t my thing,” the actress told Variety magazine.

The star of films such as Diary of a Passion admitted that she had no idea that her former co-star from Mean Girls would be included in the ad, otherwise she would have changed her mind.

“Of course, I would always love to be part of a ‘Mean Girls’ reunion and spend time with my peers, but yeah, I found out about that later,” she said.

For her part, the PageSix news portal revealed in November that Rachel McAdams did not want to participate in the project, while the rest of the cast loved getting together again. “They had a great time, talking about being mothers, and it was a loss not having Rachel there,” a source said.

Rachel McAdams also revealed to Variety that she is almost back for the Mean Girls musical movie set to be released in January 2024. “Tina [Fey] and I explored some ideas, but in the end, it was difficult to make it all work,” she explained. “She was willing to do whatever she wanted. I think the direction she took will be fantastic and I can’t wait to see it.”
