Marcia Faustin’s photos have gone viral worldwide, capturing her tenderness and affection for the USA Gymnastic’s team.
After a rough and emotional period, Simone Biles and Team USA reclaimed Olympic gold in the women’s all-around gymnastics final, adding to the 90 -and counting- medals for the U.S. at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
But now, Marcia Faustin has shown the world that everything eventually gets better, and that resilience, care, and mental health can not only save us but also help us achieve our dreams.
Let’s remember before their victory, the team went through a difficult period following the series of abuses by Larry Nassar, USA Gymnastic’s team former doctor who was involved in one of the largest sexual abuse scandals in sports history.

Over a period of nearly two decades, Nassar sexually abused hundreds of young female athletes under the guise of medical treatment. His victims included many prominent gymnasts, such as Simone Biles and Aly Raisman.

Marcia Faustin, Gymnastic’s Rainbow
Now, the team finally has the doctor they deserved. Dr. Marcia Faustin has showed the world how tenderness and care can lead to gold.
Dr. Faustin is the co-head team physician for the USA Gymnastics Women’s National Team playing one of the most significant role.

She became the co-head women’s team physician in 2019 where she began providing medical care at national team training camps, traveling with the gymnasts to domestic and international meets, and keeping track of their medical issues between events.
Dr. Faustin is a key figure during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, by lovingly supporting the gymnasts, both physically and mentally.

She was also present during Simone Biles’s well-publicized struggle with mental health, providing essential support and care.
“I think the athletes are incredibly brave, and their candidness and openness about their mental health challenges is inspiring countless people.” she told UC Davis. “Their strength has shown us that mental health is important to discuss outwardly.”

Marcia Faustin also stated that USA Gymnastics and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee have made important strides to continuously improve and support the mental health of athletes.
“These courageous athletes are changing the world with their voices” she added.
The survivors of Nassar’s abuse have been incredibly brave in sharing their stories, leading to greater awareness and reforms in how abuse cases are handled in sports. And now, with a great team, we can only confirm there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
