Although for many (and for several years) Twilight became one of the most beloved sagas, Sofia Coppola did not think so. She contemplated directing the last film of the story starring Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, but there was something that did not convince her, and she preferred to turn down the opportunity.
Why Didn’t Sofia Coppola Want to Direct Twilight?
Recently, the filmmaker revealed in an interview that she was present at a meeting for the direction of the last installment of the saga based on the books by writer Stephenie Meyer. However, this “never went anywhere,” because upon learning the plot, she considered it to be “strange and weird,” something with which many viewers agreed.
“I thought the whole imprinting and werewolf thing was weird. The baby; very weird!” she said. Coppola noted that, for a moment, she was excited about the idea of directing a romance between a teenager and a vampire, but when he learned what the film he would be involved in was about, he realized the story was “going too far.”
“I think it would be fun to do science fiction, and I think it would be fun to do it, not as a gory thing, but I like gothic horror. I have no idea though,” Sofia Coppola commented.

What Is the Last Twilight Movie About?
The last part of Twilight is divided into two: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and Breaking Dawn Part 2. In the first part, Bella and Edward get married, and she becomes pregnant; however, her baby, who is half human and half vampire, causes serious health problems for the young woman.
In the second installment, Bella becomes a vampire and has a new challenge: to protect her daughter from the Volturi, because there is a law that forbids transforming children into vampires.
