Astronomical Events in June
Planetary Conjunctions
A planetary conjunction occurs when two or more planets appear close to each other in the sky. Interestingly, this proximity is just an illusion; in reality, they are extremely far from each other.

In June, we will have not one, but several of these events:
- Moon and Mars: June 2
- Jupiter and Mercury: June 4
- Moon and Jupiter: June 5
- Moon and Saturn: June 27
Strawberry Moon
The full moon of June, also known as the Strawberry Moon, will occur on June 22. During this event, the Earth’s natural satellite is located low in the sky, and for higher latitudes, it shines through more atmosphere, making it likely to take on a reddish hue.

The name “Strawberry Moon” is curiously not related to the color of the Moon but to the Algonquin culture, who associated this lunar phase with the start of the strawberry season.
Summer Solstice
The event that marks the beginning of summer will take place on June 20 at 14:49. It occurs when the Sun reaches its highest point in the sky, resulting in the longest day of the year.
Meteor Shower: Arietids
This phenomenon began on April 14 and will end on June 24. According to INAOE, the best time to view this phenomenon will be on June 10.

Meteor Shower: Bootids
The incredible activity of the Bootids meteor shower will begin on June 22 and end on July 2. The peak of this phenomenon can be observed on June 27.
