It is curious how Mars, known as the “red planet”, gives us beautiful sunrises of green and blue tones. However, it is something that we are infinitely grateful for because with NASA technology we have been fortunate witnesses of this visual spectacle. Among the many missions assigned to the Perseverance rover, a robot that this company designed to explore the planet, the one to capture what a sunrise on Mars is like stood out.

But why are sunrises green on Mars?
Many things remain to be explored on Mars, but the fact that its sunrises are green does not have such a complicated reason, according to scientists. It turns out that this is because its atmosphere is composed almost entirely of carbon dioxide, a touch of nitrogen, and another little oxygen, something that does not happen on our planet, where it abounds in nitrogen and oxygen.
Now, what happens is that the gases on Mars react differently to the light that the Sun provides, without leaving aside the atmospheric and geological conditions, which cause the dust suspended in the air to disperse the light differently. Thanks to all this, the Martian sky takes on different colors than what we are used to seeing on Earth.
