It’s no secret that Quentin Tarantino seeks perfection in his films; however, this “obsessive” pursuit may have led him to cancel “The Movie Critic.”
With this film, the director would have completed his 10-year cinematic legacy and he even excited us with the idea of bringing together Brad Pitt and most of the cast of Pulp Fiction, including a small appearance by Bruce Willis.
Tarantino chose the path of tossing this film into the bin of incomplete movies alongside “Double V,” his adult version of Star Trek, the adaptation of the game Half-Life, and Kill Bill Vol.3, rather than proceeding with something he wasn’t entirely convinced about.
Why did Tarantino cancel “The Movie Critic”?
So far, there’s no official version explaining why Tarantino decided to cancel his latest film, which caught us by surprise, as Brad Pitt was already firmly attached to the production.
However, it’s said that his unexpected decision was simply because he no longer liked the project. Reports suggest that Tarantino had many issues with the script and rewrote it several times.
He finished it in 2023, but apparently, he wasn’t thrilled with the final result, so he scrapped it and is now working on defining what will be the worthy story to end his career.

What was “The Movie Critic” going to be about?
The film would have depicted a film critic from the 1970s who would be controversial for his reviews. In this movie, Brad Pitt would reprise his role as Cliff Booth from “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.”
Specialized media reported that there were several approaches with Tom Cruise, which would result in another of his star-studded casts to bid farewell to the industry.
